Thank you for making Christmas brighter

We want to say a massive thank you to all the superheroes who supported our 2025 Christmas Card Campaign and put a smile on the faces of isolated older people across Edinburgh.

From the hundreds of generous locals who took the time to write heartfelt messages to our VIPs, to the individuals and businesses who donated so generously – we truly couldn’t have done it without you.

For many older people in the city, Christmas can be a particularly difficult time. Many are unlikely to receive cards, gifts, or visitors, with the television often becoming their main form of company.

That’s why, once again this festive season, we created profiles of VIPs in our community, sharing their interests and passions, and invited members of the public to write them a personalised card.

We were blown away by the response, with thousands of cards flooding through our letterbox in December. Post arrived from all over the city, with schools, youth groups, and businesses getting involved too. One card even travelled an incredible 6,700km from Florida.

Your jokes, words, drawings, and handmade creations truly meant the world to our VIP’s, many of whom can feel invisible at this time of year. Through a simple act of kindness, you reminded someone that they are seen and valued.

This year, we were also thrilled to have some star power behind our campaign with renowned novelist Philippa Gregory, author of The Other Boleyn Girl, and much-loved Edinburgh singer Callum Beattie both signing cards for members of our community.

Our wonderful VIP’s, along with their families, friends, and volunteers, have shared just how much each card meant to them, and we wanted to pass on some of their comments with you in this video:

Thank you again from everyone at the Vintage Vibes team! Every single one of you is helping to tackle long-term isolation and loneliness amongst over 60’s in Edinburgh.
