Celebrating Befriending Week…with Jean & Emma

1-7 November is Befriending Week. This year’s theme is all about celebrating everything #BefriendingIs.

So we’re taking the opportunity to celebrate the hundreds of fantastic friendships that have been built between our VIPs (our wonderful over-60s) and volunteers. Friendships like Jean and Emma’s.

Jean and Emma love cats and crafts! When Emma, one of our volunteers, met Jean she reintroduced a little safe and trusted adventure back into Jean’s life, encouraging her to get out and about in her local community again.

It started with trips to the local Cat Café where they bonded over their love of cats; and as their friendship grew, so did Jean’s confidence.

With her confidence increasing by the minute, soon Jean was curious about other things in her local community; she was looking for more to do. So Jean joined our Sewing Bee group and is thoroughly enjoying the relaxation that focusing on sewing, especially in the company of others, brings.

If that wasn’t enough adventure, Jean has since enrolled in the local adult sewing class; we may just have the next Coco Chanel on our hands…
