Halina

Halina, 97, lives in Edinburgh. Hailing from Poland originally, Halina loves to speak in her native tongue amongst her local community, visiting polish cafes and conversing in polish with locals. She loves to remind herself of the tastes of home, sampling the food and smelling the aromas of polish cuisine when she visits her local delicatessen for some polish treats.

Halina experienced some mobility issues and when paired with her volunteer over four years ago now, it meant Halina could still venture out and about in the community. Her volunteer supported her to continue to explore the local area and what adventures it had to offer, sharing the experiences in great company. Halina often creates traditional polish food, introducing and sharing with her volunteer the tastes of Poland where she was born.
