Tom Kitchin meets Vibes VIPs 2

FRIENDS, FAME AND FISH PIE

As you know, Vintage Vibes tackles loneliness in the UK’s loneliest city for over 60s – and we are always delighted when a fellow Scot wants to get to know our VIPs and find out more about our work.

This week, we were very fortunate to be visited by celebrity Michelin star chef, neighbour and all round nice guy, Tom Kitchin; in a collaboration between Vintage Vibes, BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen and Comic Relief (one of our wonderful funders).

A FANTASTIC TIME WAS HAD BY ALL…

Tom Kitchin joined us on Monday to meet Norma, a Vintage Vibes VIP-turned-volunteer, followed by cooking a delicious meal for Vintage Vibes matches Piera and Lewis, Shel and Thalia, David and Lindsey, and Norma and Luke.

We took the opportunity to decorate the LifeCare Centre in true VV style with bunting, balloons and as much joy as we could all muster (after all, it’s not every day we get the chance to be on the tele!).

LifeCare and Broomhouse Centre are the two long standing Edinburgh charities which created Vintage Vibes, so it was wonderful to be in one of the spots where it all began.

Tom created a delicious serving of his luxurious homemade fish pie (or a hot smoked salmon salad for Piera who is gluten free), and spent a lovely afternoon mingling with the group to find out what we were all about.

As you can see, a great time was had by all, and it was fantastic for our VIPs and volunteers to get to know each other in such a lovely setting.

We are so grateful to Tom and the Saturday Kitchen team for choosing to celebrate Vintage Vibes and our amazing VIPs in the lead up to Red Nose Day.
